The Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition Department at Riley at IU Health provides personalized care to children with conditions of the digestive tract, liver and pancreas and nutritional problems.

Relief for Children With Digestive and Liver Conditions

Children with digestive and liver conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease or gastroesophageal reflux disease, may experience a range of unpleasant physical symptoms, including diarrhea, vomiting, gastrointestinal bleeding and abdominal pain. Chronic problems such as constipation or encopresis (soiling) can be socially and emotionally traumatic for patients and families. Liver diseases can also be life-threatening.

We provide comprehensive evaluations, individualized treatment plans and extensive education to help children and their families manage gastrointestinal conditions and improve symptoms. Our board certified pediatric gastroenterologists work with you and your child to improve health and ensure quality of life.

We offer specialized programs for a number of gastrointestinal conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, eosinophilic disorders and motility conditions—just to name a few. As a regional referral hospital, our gastroenterology team performs more than 2,500 pediatric endoscopy procedures and cares for more than 300 new pediatric liver patients each year.

Now Offering Virtual Visits

Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Riley Children’s Health is now scheduling virtual visits for patients throughout the state. Our skilled experts offer quick access from home to expert care through video visits for G.I., liver and nutritional problems. Virtual visits typically last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. Visits may include a discussion of your child’s history, answering questions, examinations, diagnoses, and instructions for treatment. To schedule an appointment or to ask more questions about the virtual visits, call 317.944.3774.

When doing a virtual visit, be sure to allow access to your camera and microphone if you are using your phone. If you are connecting via desktop, be sure to test your computer settings.
